DNA Tests for the Surname French = 123

A good source for research would be for a male with the surname French of this line to take the DNA test. It is a simple test that doesnÕt involve blood. Julia Ann Brown in 1852 and had 8 children: Willard H., Mary J., Charles B., Henry M., James E., Maggie Z., Tilden O., and Cora J. The family lived mostly in Wayne Co., OH.

127.  208021, Chart #IREH, Robert ffrench, the first person tested from the Monivea, Galway, Ireland tribe of the 16th century and his son Patrick Begg ffrench. His son was Robert ffrench who married in 1672 and had only one son, Patrick, b. 1677. He had son Robert, who m. Nichola Acheson in 1746, and they had son Acheson ffrench who had son Robert, b. 1 Jan 1776, m. 1 Jan 1799 Nichola-Maria OÕBrien, the eldest daughter of Sir Lucius OÕBrien. Because the ffrench and OÕBrien family had equal prestige, the descendants used the surname OÕBrien-ffrench. With the next generation, the family began to move to other parts of the world. Son Robert, b. 6 Dec 1799 remained in Ireland, but his brother Acheson migrated to Hamilton, Australia, where their families remained until the 20th century when descendants moved to Canada and America. Ian Fleming wrote about the life of Conrad OÕBrien-ffrench in his true-life tales about James Bond 007. No French matches yet; however, his closest matches with other surnames are from all over the British Isles and Europe with the highest average of .5% from both England and Germany.

128.  212692, Ebenezer French, m. Abigail, d. Montgomery County, NY. He may have been born before 1780 and lived in Mohawk or Florida or Amsterdam, Montgomery Co., NY. He is listed in the 1790 census living in Mohawk, Montgomery Co., NY, with 4 people in his household. In the 1800 census, he is living in Florida, Montgomery Co., NY, with 5 people in his household; he was over the age of 45; therefore, born before 1755. Priscilla Anderson; Dominick French, 1770, m. Mary Shillingsburgh; William French 1797-1860, m. Nancy Tidings in Baltimore, MD; George W. French, m. Mary A. Green; John Alexanader French, bm. Ella Jane Foster; George Nelson French, m. Edna May Wight; John Nelson French, m. Regina G. Sadler; Wayne L. French, in Baltimore, MD. The research done by this testee shows that his line is Chart #137; however, the test results do not match with that group, namely, DNA Test Group 7. So far he is the only French with these markers; perhaps he or another male in his line was adopted, as the names are mostly Eastern European and could have been changed to French along the way.
