Introduction

DNA Testing is administered by Julia French Wood. For any questions regarding DNA, please email Julia at juliaFWood@aol.com. Only a male with the surname French can take this test. It is a simple test that doesn’t involve blood. A kit is delivered to your house for you to take the cheek swab test and the tip is injected into the tiny test tubes to be returned to the lab in a padded envelop that they provide for you. After your test is completed in about 4 weeks, you will be notified and can log in to your personal page to view your DNA matches. Julia French Wood suggests the 37-marker test (Y-DNA37).

DNA is pure Science. The DNA is passed from father to son, to son, forever.  The only time a male from the line doesn't match the group is if he or if any of his direct male ancestors were adopted or had a father other than French.

Important: Note that the research below regarding the biological connections (name of earliest ancestor) is from the testee’s research only, and not necessarily correct nor reliable. It provides the best-guess scenario for further study. Further study could indicate migration path, locations, dates, and/or other biological connections to assist in finding correct family data.

Special Questions:

1. Are the listings within each DNA group in a special order? The order has to do with the markers and are determined by the company according to the markers posted.

2. What does *(NPE)* stand for? "Non-Paternal Event" meaning that the father wasn't of the family that they believed him to be. Maybe not a French when they thought he should be or was a French when they thought he would have another name.

3. When a test is deleted, is that because they were found to be with the wrong family, or they didn’t want that information online, or something else? Any deletions would be because they didn't belong, or the testee may leave the Project.

4. If a French male matches all 37 numbers plus the Haplogroup exactly the same within a DNA Group, does that mean for sure that biologically and logically that person had a father named French? Yes. He doesn't even have to match all the markers but most as mutations occur often. The Haplogroup may not be exactly the same within a Group because deeper Haplogroup testing can be done that changes the name of the Haplogroup slightly.
