1.1 Philip French was b. 3 Mar 1790 in KY, d. 31 Mar 1847 in Vermillion Co., IN, and is buried at the Trowbridge Cemetery in Hillsdale, IN [1]. He married Sarah Randall on 14 Aug 1813 in Butler co., OH [1]. Possible brothers are George Hedges French, David French, and Samuel French [1].

History of Mt. Pleasant Township, Whiteside County, IL, from Bent-Wilson 1877 Page 291-296. The first child born in this township was John French born in Jun 1836, a son of Felix French. The first settlement made on the territory now embraced by Mount Pleasant township was in the latter part of 1835 by Felix French, among others. Felix occupied a log cabin here in 1835. It is unknown how this Felix relates to Chart #186. The Felix French mentioned above as 2.8, was born in 1829.

History of the Otto Ervy French Family, by Otto Ervy French, 1958. Otto was b. 28 Oct 1884, m. Eda Della Patison, lived in Kansas and Missouri. His family originally came from Virginia, he assumes, and then moved to Lexington, Fayette Co., KY where 3 children were born and moved to Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Vermillion County, Indiana

Vermillion County was created on January 2, 1824 and was formed from Parke County, Unorganized Land and Wabash New Purchase. The Wabash New Purchase: Begun in 1820, this tract lasted until 1835 and then became all of White County and portions of the counties of Boone, Carroll, Fountain, Hendricks, Jasper, Montgomery, Morgan, Parke, Putnam, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, and Warsaw. The County was named for the Vermillion River.
