LEONA A. COLBY, NORWOOD, DIES AT AGE OF 85

Leona A. Colby, 85, of 34 Park St., died Saturday evening in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, where she had been a patient since June 22.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Church, with the Rev. Paul Worczak, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday at the Buck Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, or Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad, Norwood Unit.

Surviving are her husband, Paul; a son, Herbert, Potsdam; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Paula) Covell, Potsdam; four grandchildren; and a sister, Irene McCormick, Norwood.

Two brothers, Leo and Weldon French, died before her.

Born on March 27, 1910, in Norwood, a daughter of Hebert A. and Rose Poirier French, she was a 1928 graduate of Norwood High School. She married Paul C. Colby on July 30, 1949, at St. Andrew's Rectory, with the Rev. Joseph Quinn, assistant pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Colby was an operator for New York Telephone Co. for 22 years.

She was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed camping, cooking and sewing and was an avid Clarkson University hockey fan.

She had Social Security Number 134-09-4356 .

Spouse: Paul C. COLBY. Paul C. COLBY and Leona A. FRENCH were married on 30 JUL 1949 in New York.
