10.1 Barbarra Lee Elben, b. 1935, listed in the 1940 census of Anne Arundel, MD. She died of cancer. She married Peyton of Washington, D.C.

10.2 John Cleveland Elben, b. 10 Apr 1938, listed in the 1940 census of Anne Arundel, MD. In 2012 he lived at 426 S. Neptune Dr., Satellite Beach, FL 32937-3825, (321) 779-2183. Email: elbenjc001@aol.com. He m. Nancy Springer. No children. He was in aviation most of his life, retiring in 2001. From 1957-1961 he was in the Marine Corp. He spent 7 years in Europe and Southeast Asia, stationed in England. John states that he has always known that he was German and from the area near the Elbe River which runs from Hamburg, Germany, to Poland.

Obituary for William Cooper Elben

William Cooper ("Bill") Elben ended his courageous battle against cancer on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD.

Born on December 7, 1933, he is the son of Henrietta Elben of Denton, MD and the late F. Cooper Elben. He was reared in the Tuckahoe Neck area of Caroline County and graduated from North Caroline High School in 1951.

On March 24, 1956, he married his surviving spouse, the former F. Grace Davis. Five children were born as a result of their marriage; Sheree L. Patrick of Arnold; Karen L. Haddaway, who resides in Tilghman with her husband, Ell; Michael W. Elben, who resides in Cordova with his wife, Terry; Patricia E. Campen, who resides in Oxford with her husband, Sid and John C. Elben who resides in Cordova with his wife, Debbie. He is also survived by a brother, Fleetwood Elben of Denton; his stepmother, Evelyn Palmatary of Church Hill; a half brother, James Elben of Denton; a half sister, June Harvey of Georgetown, DE and eight grandchildren, Christopher M. Brennick of Florence, SC, Jodi M. Brennick of Tilghman, Trilby L. Cahall of Denton, Casey L. Patrick of Easton, Michel L. Elben, Mitchell R. Elben, Zachary J. Elben, and Alison H. Elben, all of Cordova.

Bill Elben enjoyed a good life with a loving family and friends. He was a lifelong farmer who was recognized as an honest, hard working individual, at one time receiving top state honors for soybean production in the Mid-Atlantic region. His favorite pastimes included time spent with family and collecting antique farm machinery and toy tractors. He was a member of the Easton B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1622, Easton Moose Lodge #1520, Talbot County Farm Bureau and the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2001 at 10:00 AM at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 5, 2001 from 3 to 5 PM and on Monday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro, MD.

10.7* Thomas ÒFleetwoodÓ Elben, b. 28 Jan 1936 in Caroline Co., MD. Thomas d. 2 May 2007 in Denton, Caroline Co., MD. In the 1940 census, he was living with his parents in Caroline Co., Maryland at 1B Dist Road from Hillsboro Forward New Bridge, age 4. He lived at one time at 26138 Shore Hwy, Denton, Caroline Co., MD. He m. Ruth Wright in 1954. Ruth was b. 16 Jul 1935.

DENTON — Thomas Fleetwood Elben of Denton died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 71.

Born in the Mid-Shore area, Mr. Elben was the son of the late Cooper Fletcher Elben and Henrietta Wheatley Elben.

He graduated from Caroline High School, class of 1954.

In February 1957 he went to work for Choptank Cooperative Electric Company in Denton as a serviceman, lineman and then was a supervisor of construction. He retired in September 1995, at age 59, as a contractor coordinator after 38 years of service.

Mr. Elben is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth E. Elben of Denton; two daughters, Barbara Kisling and her husband Roy of Pasadena and Janet Thomas and husband David of Federalsburg; four grandchildren, Matthew Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Randy Elben and Michael Elben.

He was preceded in death by one son, T. Dale Elben, who died July 18, 2004; and one brother, William Cooper Elben, who died Aug. 2, 2001.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Moore Funeral Home P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Denton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
