Lineage List

How do we know that Louisa, George, Jacob, and John were siblings? Most of the evidence is circumstantial from where they lived or from DNA. Because of the marriages to the Snively family, Louisa French and Jacob French are most likely siblings. George French mentions Jacob in land contracts, but never says what relationship they are. Jacob moved to Maryland to see his brother John the year he died, 1787, and then he died there himself the next year.

From the evidence we've gathered, it looks as though there are two separate French families in early Frederick, Washington, and Baltimore Counties, Maryland. One family was English (George, Thomas, Ariana), which is FFA Chart #166. The other family - DNA Group 4 French family.
