The Migration of Edward Lamb

Bibliography

Introduction

When I first started numbering FFA charts, I included both male and female lines; hence, this female line of a former FFA member. IÕve decided to keep these female lines in place so as not to confuse the numbering system.

As soon as the FFA finds the parents of Margaret, this chart will no longer be maintained, but continue with her parentÕs chart. Hopefully, it will connect into another male chart. Margaret FrenchÕs parents seem not to be found anywhere. If you find more data, please email marafrench@mindspring.com.

Most likely this chart ties in with FFA Chart #5, John French of Braintree, MA.

History

This chart may be erroneous according to Edith Bartley, edith.bartley@worldnet.att.net. Edward Lamb did marry a Margaret, but her surname may not have been French. Ref: "The Great Migration Begins", Vol. 2, Robert Charles Anderson, NEHGS: Boston 1995, pp 1151-52, has a brief biographical sketch of Edward Lamb in which Anderson says that MargaretÕs maiden name is unknown.

á      Samuel Allen, b. in England, came over with the first settlers of Boston in 1628. In 1635 it is recorded that he was a freeman in Braintree. His first wife, Ann, d. Sep 1641. á      Braintree is the city where John French of FFA Chart #5 resided. Margaret could be tied with that chart.

FFA: Margaret may possibly be a sister of John French of Braintree, Chart #5, since there are intermarriages.

[10] FFA member #326, Shirley Taylor. Margaret French m1. ca. 1633 Edward Lamb, m2. Samuel Allen, ca. 1643. Daughter Hannah Lamb, m. Joseph Knight. This Margaret French could be the sister of John French, Chart #5, because Samuel AllenÕs family all lived in Braintree, MA.
